Software Engineer

Where you’ll be working
XYZ Dynamics builds electric drivetrains and battery-electric machines. We operate in three markets: aviation, with ground support equipment, offshore and foundation construction.
We don’t mass-produce thousands of units. Instead, we build machines that handle significant power, where the control system determines whether the machine performs or comes to a standstill.
We have a flat organisational structure without complex management layers. A proposal leads to a decision and an action point. This also means taking ownership of a problem until it is solved, from the first line of code to commissioning on site.
What you’ll do
Design and develop control software in CODESYS, mainly using Structured Text or in PLUS+1® GUIDE. The platform and customer determine which environment you use.
Work with Danfoss hardware, including PLUS+1® controllers, displays and valve controls.
Develop machine control systems using CAN / CANopen / J1939 for drivetrains, hydraulics, battery systems and charging infrastructure.
Contribute to the architecture of new machines together with our electrical and mechanical engineering teams.
Commission, measure, debug and tune systems directly on the machine, both in Best and on customer sites.
Develop safety functions in accordance with machinery safety requirements (ISO 13849 / PL-d).
What you bring
Required:
HBO/WO level of working and thinking, for example in electrical engineering, mechatronics, embedded systems or a comparable field. Equivalent demonstrable experience without a formal degree is also welcome.
At least 2 years of experience with machine control systems.
Experience with CODESYS / Structured Text or PLUS+1® GUIDE. Experience with one is sufficient; experience with both is an advantage. What matters is that you can independently develop a control system from the ground up, rather than only modifying existing code.
Experience with Danfoss, Hydac or IFM control hardware.
Willingness to travel regularly to Zeeland for our offshore projects and occasionally to other customer locations.
A valid category B driving licence.
Proficiency in Dutch and English.
Preferred:
Experience with mobile machinery such as cranes, piling rigs, off-road vehicles or GSE.
Knowledge of hydraulics and proportional valve control.
Experience with battery-electric drivetrains, BMS or charging systems.
Knowledge of functional safety standards such as ISO 13849 and ISO 25119.
What you don’t need is detailed knowledge of our complete machine portfolio. You’ll learn that here.
What you do need is an understanding of how a drivetrain behaves when the software sends the wrong command.
About the travel requirements
Your main workplace is in Best, where our office and workshop are located and where most of your work takes place.
A significant part of our projects is managed through our offshore division in Zeeland. During these periods, you may spend several days a week there, with accommodation paid for by us.
Travel is part of the role. We prefer to be clear about that from the start, so you can decide whether it suits you.
What we offer
€4,000 – €5,600 gross per month based on a 40-hour working week, depending on your knowledge and experience.
8% holiday allowance.
A good pension scheme, with the employer covering the majority of the premium on a 70/30 basis.
25 holiday days + 13 ADV days.
Travel allowance or a company car for structural project work on location.
Full reimbursement of accommodation and expenses during project work.
Laptop, phone and the tools you need to do your job.
Training budget for CODESYS certification, functional safety training and other courses that support your professional development.
A permanent contract upon proven suitability. We are looking for someone for the long term.
A small company where a decision you make today can be implemented in a machine next week.

No cover letter is required. Just tell us in a few lines what you have worked on and what you have built yourself.
As part of the next stage of the recruitment process, you will receive a use case. We will prepare you for this in advance. The quality of your work and your technical insight are what matter most to us.
For technical questions about the role, please contact us by email rather than by phone. We read every message ourselves and will provide a clear answer. If there is a good match, we will arrange an interview where we can discuss the technical details in depth.
Acquisition in response to this vacancy is not appreciated.
